BAPTISMS
Conducting baptisms is always a privilege and we are delighted to be asked to do so. We are, however, governed by fairly strict rules in terms of who qualifies.

As the national or "Established Church" we are obliged to take such services for those who live within our parish boundary and for those who regularly attend the church and are therefore on our "Electoral Roll" (a list of church members). Being a good neighbour to other parishes requires that we do not steal their parishioners!

In order to conduct a baptism for those living outside our parish we would expect a strong link with the church or for the family to start attending church services or Dickie Birds (our group for young children and their carers).

As a matter of courtesy we also ask the family to contact the vicar of the parish in which the family lives in order to gain their permission. We are however always delighted to incorporate a thanksgiving for the birth of a child within one of our main services when asked.

There is no charge for a baptism.

NB. Everyone in England has a local parish church. If you are not sure which is yours, go to www.achurchnearyou.com and enter your postcode.
